Chandigarh, April 16

Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu today promised a gathering of experts from the fields of art, literature, music and cinema that Punjab would soon have its culture policy.

Prominent among those who attended the meeting included poet Dr Surjit Patar; singers Pammi Bai, Jasbir Jassi and Dr Satinder Sartaj; actors Sunita Dheer and Gurpreet Singh Waraich; filmmaker Manmohan Singh; artist Diwan Manna; writer Sadhvi Khosla; and Secretary, Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Hussan Lal.Responding to the experts’ suggestions.

Sidhu said strong steps would be initiated to put an end to the menace of vulgarity. He added that enacting the ‘Goonda Act’ to curb piracy was on his agenda.Sidhu also asked the luminaries to keep in touch with him for giving more suggestions.

He said all suggestions/views received would be compiled, adding that another meeting would be held within 15 days to deliberate upon the same.Subsequently, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh would preside over a meeting to finalise the culture policy.
